Inexpensive and Quality Homeopathic education. Just the cost of books! (I use Minimum Price Homeopathic Books at www.minimum.com). To begin with, you must have a complete understanding of the philosophy and science of homeopathy as well as disease and health. So the first book to read is Hahnemann's Organon. To read and understand this, you should have a few books to help you understand everything you are reading. First, a common dictionary, Webster's will do (and every household should have one). Second, a medical dictionary will come in VERY handy. While these are very expensive, there a couple you can get on the Net for free. One uses the Net, the other you download onto your computer (I prefer this one). The third assistant book you should have, (and you will find yourself using this all along the way) "Yasgur's Homeopathic Dictionary and Holistic Health Reference". This also translates the archaic language found in most of the great homeopathy books. Unfortunately you can't find it anywhere for free, so you'll have to buy it, (it's under $24 at www.minimum.com). Now that you have the dictionary's, you are ready to begin reading "the bible" of homeopathy, "The Organon" by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the Father of homeopathy. I would suggest the translation "Organon of the Medical Art" an English version edited and annotated by Wenda Brewster O'Reilly, based on a definitive new translation by Steven Decker. (Under $30 at www.minimum.com). This is the 6th, and last edition. The Organon should be read twice a year for the first 50 years, then once a year thereafter. Next, read "The Genius of Homeopathy" "Chronic Disease", 2 volumes, by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (Under $20 at www.minimum.com). Is an absolute must read if you are even just a little serious about learning homeopathy. "The Prescriber" By After you have read the above, begin writing a repertory of your own to learn the remedies. Combine the Materia Medica's of Boger, Boenninghausen, Boericke, and, of course, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann's Materia Medica Pura. If done properly and carefully, it will take a couple of years or possibly more, but this is the best way to learn your remedies and your way around the Materia Medica's and repertories. Translate along the way to common language in such a form that you will be able to look up rubrics in a timely fashion. Repertories have their limitations in that not all rubrics or remedies are to be found in them, so compiling your own Reparatory will be the most useful and complete one you can find since you will use ALL the remedies and ALL the rubrics found in the greatest Materia Medica's ever written. Read cases both successful and failures to learn more. You could probably find many on the Net, however, the best will be found in books, full cases and everything. One should also own "Duration of Action and Antidotes" or something that gives duration and antidotes ($2 at www.minimum.com) When you begin to learn the remedies, use them or suggest them to others, you'll find yourself looking them up in this book and comparing to what you read or experience. (You'll also find much of them to be dead on in this book!) Beware of the newer writing's as many who claim to be "Classical Homeopath's" seem to either have no clue what one is, or simply don't care and feel that all kinds of homeopathy are all the same, and, as Hahnemann points out in his writings, its not!!! During the reading of the Organon, you will learn what is "Classical Homeopathy", and why this is always the best and only way to cure. This is a good beginning and should keep you busy for a while. Make studying more interesting and fun by having someone else study with you. This will give you someone to converse with on the subject as your learning as well as another's point of view each step of the way. Conversing on the subject you are learning helps you to retain the information you just took in. It's like using the info right away. With a study buddy, you may be able to share some of the expense of the education as well.
